Issued in 1986 as a limited edition of only 300 pieces, this buckle is numbered 185 of 300, and is signed by the original artist, Terry D. Griffith, reinforcing its authenticity and limited-edition status., making it a highly collectible piece of American heritage.
The front features a beautifully detailed raised relief scene depicting the evolution of the valley—from Native American life and teepees, to the arrival of the railroad, logging, and modern industry. A steam locomotive and heavy equipment flank the scene, symbolizing progress, while forested hills and valley imagery anchor the design in the Pacific Northwest landscape. The top banner proudly reads “ELGIN – OREGON”, with the years 1886–1991 marking the town’s historical timeline.
